“In order to avoid offending religious fundamentalists, our National Park Service is under orders to suspend its belief in geology,” stated PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch. “It is disconcerting that the official position of a national park as to the geologic age of the Grand Canyon is ‘no comment.’”

On eating smaller cows...

"There is no meaningful distinction between eating flesh and eating dairy or other animal products. Animals exploited in the dairy industry live longer than those used for meat, but they are treated worse during their lives, and they end up in the same slaughterhouse after which we consume their flesh anyway. There is probably more suffering in a glass of milk or an ice cream cone than there is in a steak. And anyone who thinks that an egg—even a so-called “free range” one—is any less a product of horrible suffering than is meat does not know much about the egg industry.

If someone stops eating flesh but eats more dairy or eggs as a result (as many “vegetarians” do), this may actually increase suffering. In any event, to maintain that there is moral distinction between eating flesh and eating dairy, eggs, or consuming other animal products, is as silly as maintaining that there is a moral distinction between eating large cows and eating small cows."

Vegan Supper at Junior's

Our friend Aaron is a great cook. And he's doing a fancy vegan meal soon at Junior's. Reserve a spot if you want. We will.

"Junior's Cafe will be debuting a series of four course family style suppers on the 5th of January 2007. We will only be offering dinner the first Friday of every month in conjunction with local gallery openings in lower Southeast Portland. Dinner will begin at seven PM at a fixed price of fifteen dollars per person--not including wine and beer. The menu will be based on what we find fresh from the market that day. It will be fun and it will be delicious. We encourage you to make your reservations early, as space is limited. We welcome reservations for as many as you want or just yourself; it's family style after all. Please reserve you table via email: juniorscafe@gmail.com. If you have any questions you can also call the restaurant at 503-467-4971. Thank you for your interest in Junior's first foray into the supper scene."

Polar bear fears may spark warming rethink

'Today the Interior Department's US Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing to list polar bears as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act,' said interior secretary Dirk Kempthorne.

'We are making this proposal because a scientific review of the species by the Fish and Wildlife service found that populations may be threatened by receding sea ice, which polar bears use as a platform for many activities essential to their life cycle, including hunting for their main prey, Arctic seals.'

Today's announcement follows a campaign by environmental groups, which sued the Government seeking action to protect the polar bear.

This site is golden.

"The politically correct major news organizations have treated the animal rights terrorists with a code of silence, and these groups have a high degree of public support. Wake up FBI and CIA. Food terrorism is capable of exceeding the damage and death caused on 9/11/2001 by the terrorist destruction of the twin World Trade Center Towers.

Time will tell whether or not this beef contamination was caused by animal rights supporters, but the future is clear. We must stop treating these groups as disobedient youngsters and begin to treat them as TERRORISTS."

We heard yesterday that Josh's mom and sister have FINALLY been approved to visit him!!! Unfortunately word came too late to get them there for Christmas, but we're going to hammer out the details and get Josh some family time in the upcoming weeks. Check back for updates!

In the meantime please keep writing to Josh and the other SHAC7 prisoners! Make writing to prisoners your New Year's resolution- mark it on your calendar, make a pledge, write yourself a reminder, and make it happen.

Josh is eternally grateful to everyone who's written so far and wants you all to know how much it means to him to hear from you. Mail gets processed slowly in prison (especially for Josh since the guards aren't too fond of the quantity of correspondence he receives), so if you don't receive a response right away don't be discouraged!

A devil food is turning our kids into homosexuals

"Soy is feminizing, and commonly leads to a decrease in the size of the penis, sexual confusion and homosexuality. That's why most of the medical (not socio-spiritual) blame for today's rise in homosexuality must fall upon the rise in soy formula and other soy products. (Most babies are bottle-fed during some part of their infancy, and one-fourth of them are getting soy milk!) Homosexuals often argue that their homosexuality is inborn because 'I can't remember a time when I wasn't homosexual.' No, homosexuality is always deviant. But now many of them can truthfully say that they can't remember a time when excess estrogen wasn't influencing them."

From the November 2006 issue of Egg Industry magazine:

Excerpt from page 8:

"Despite these mixed results on college campuses on the issue, Gene Gregory, vice president of the United Egg Producers, Atlanta, says that 'I'm afraid we're losing the battle,' because it's hard for the egg industry to compete with the budget of $100 million that the Humane Society of the United States has, and it's relatively easy for the Humane Society to recruit members on college campuses....He also thinks that when universities go cage-free, it means egg consumption declines because total costs go up and that translates into fewer eggs that end up on student plates."
